A Celestial Poetry Event with U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón

The United States Poet Laureate Ada Limón joins Humanities Kansas, the Salina Art Center, and Salina Arts and Humanities for a free poetry reading at the Salina Art Center. Coinciding with the launch of NASA’s Europa Clipper to the moons of Jupiter, Limón’s poetry reading will include the first ever poem engraved on a spacecraft, “In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa.” Book signing and stargazing are planned for after the reading. Books will be for sale at the event.

The event will also be available via online livestream. In-person and online tickets will be available on August 27. The event is free, but registration is required for both the in-person and online ticket options. There is limited seating at the Salina Art Center, so register now. You don’t want to miss this evening of celestial poetry.

Reserve your in-person or online ticket for the October 17, 2024 event. Here's how it works:

  1. Tickets are available starting at 9am on August 27, 2024

  2. Select your ticket option: In Person or Online. Both options are free, but there are a limited number of in-person tickets. Clicking on the link takes you to the Salina Art Center ticket portal. 
    In-Person tickets are good for admission to the in-person event at the Salina Art Center on October 17. They include the book signing and stargazing activities.
    Online ticketholders receive an online link to watch the poetry reading live on October 17 from the location of their choice. 

  3. Check the heading of the registration screen to make sure you have the correct link for the tickets you want to reserve, In-Person or Online. 

  4. Reserve your ticket. Fill out the information to reserve your ticket.

    Note: You do not need to a member of the Salina Art Center to reserve your ticket, just select "Continue as Guest" on the login screen.
